Family policies

What families ask us before a child starts.

Photos of your child

We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.

When to keep your child home

A child with a fever, vomiting or a contagious illness stays home and returns after being well for a full day. If a child becomes ill at school, we call you right away and ask you to come promptly. A guide stays with the child until you arrive.

Drop-off and pickup

We release a child only to the adults on the pickup list you give us, and we ask for ID at the door until we know you. Tell us ahead of time when someone new is coming.

Late pickup

Pickup is at noon for the morning, 3:00 pm for the school day and 5:30 pm for the extended day. If you are running late, call the school so a guide can stay with your child. We talk with families about repeated late pickups, and the enrollment agreement says what follows.

Meals, snacks and allergies

Families send lunch and a water bottle. The school sets out a morning snack of fruit, vegetables and crackers. Tell us about allergies at the tour; we ask privately once you enroll. We ask families not to send nuts.

Naps and safe sleep

School-day and extended-day children rest after lunch on their own mats, with a guide in the room. Children who do not sleep play quietly with books and puzzles.

Closures for weather and holidays

We close for the usual holidays, Mardi Gras week, and winter and spring breaks, and we share the year's closures at the start of the school year. If weather closes the school, we email and text families early in the morning.

What to wear and bring

Send clothes your child can manage alone and that can get wet or dirty, shoes that stay on for outdoor time, and a spare set of clothes in a labeled bag. Rain boots stay at school.

Questions about a policy?

Ask us on a tour, or write to us, and we will explain how it works in the room.
